Asad Shaheed

Asad paints for sheer pleasure.

By profession he is an architect and town planner, and worked in over 40 countries on urban development and architecture projects. Art has been a dominant thread through his life. His mother was a trained painter who exhibited in Switzerland and the USA, and his early education centred on fine art before focussing on architecture. Throughout his career the precision required to graphically depict the imagined landscapes of urban design visions has co-existed with a lifelong fascination with cartoons and the absurd.

His current work is mainly in oil, but Asad has worked extensively in watercolour and pen and ink. He presents here a selection of real and imagined people and places.

Born in Karachi in 1950, Asad grew up in Geneva and New York. He retired in 2016 and currently lives in London, England.
